Position Overview

DroneXperts is seeking a motivated and tech-savvy individual to support its growing drone education and service operations. This full-time, seasonal position (Spring through Fall, with flexible winter duties) plays a key role in executing summer youth internship programming, conducting drone operations for instructional and commercial use (agriculture, first responder, surveys), and maintaining classroom and website technologies.

The ideal candidate is highly adaptable, excited to learn, and ready to assist with drone sales, servicing, and instruction. FAA Part 107 certification is a plus—but DroneXperts will provide training and cover exam costs for the right individual.


Key Responsibilities

Drone Operations & Instruction Support:

  • Assist in operating drones for training courses, demos, and commercial missions (agriculture, emergency response, aerial surveys).

  • Support instructional sessions for youth interns, hobbyists, and professional clients.

  • Learn and assist with setup, maintenance, and field operation of drones including DJI, Autel, and custom Pixhawk-based platforms.

  • Program Coordination:

    • Help implement and supervise the 2025 Iowa Youth Summer Internship Grant program.

    • Provide guidance and support to student participants.

  • Technology & AV Support:

    • Manage classroom A/V equipment, presentation tools, and online LMS (Canvas).

    • Assist customers and vendors with online registration, training access, and technical support as needed.

  • Sales & Service:

    • Help customers select appropriate drone models and accessories for their needs.

    • Provide basic servicing, troubleshooting, and documentation of equipment repairs.

  • Course Support:

    • Assist with classes including:

      • FAA Part 107 Certification

      • Agriculture & First Responder Drone Courses

      • Drone Assembly & Programming (including soldering support)

      • Commercial Applications and Aerial Imaging


Position Details

  • Term: Full-Time (March–November), with reduced/flexible hours during winter months

  • Compensation: Competitive hourly wage or salary based on experience. Training included for FAA certification and platform-specific skills.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver course materials effectively in face-to-face, hybrid, and/or online environments.

  • Provide hands-on drone operation training as required.

  • Prepare course presentations, activities, and supplemental learning resources.

  • Ensure compliance with FAA regulations and safety standards during instruction.

  • Assess and provide constructive feedback on student performance.

  • Promote and sell drones, cameras, and accessories to interested students.

  • Assist in refining course content to maintain relevance to evolving drone technologies.

  • Participate in occasional instructor meetings and training sessions.


Qualifications

  • Strong general technical skills and willingness to learn drone systems

  • Familiarity with computer programs and basic troubleshooting

  • Comfortable learning or using tools like Pixhawk, Raspberry Pi, or Pylon programming (a plus)

  • Strong communication skills and a team-player mindset

  • Must be comfortable working with students, adults, and professionals in a classroom and field environment

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites or events when needed


Preferred but Not Required

  • FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate

  • Experience with drone operations (DJI, Autel, Pixhawk, etc.)

  • Familiarity with A/V equipment, Zoom/Teams, and Canvas LMS

  • Prior experience in youth programming, education, or workforce training
